What is your favorite part about the writing process?
I like all parts of the writing process for different reasons, but I don’t always love every part. A lot of it depends on how well the story is coming together. However, my favorite is probably that moment when I have a really great idea and it’s pure potential and I can’t wait to get started writing.
What are you most looking forward to at the cruise / writing retreat?
The best thing about teaching writing is that while I’m sharing knowledge I’m also learning from my students. I can’t wait to meet all the enthusiastic and dedicated (hey, they wouldn’t make this sort of commitment without dedication) attendees and spend a week learning from each other.
What are you currently working on?
I’m working on a horror novel for my MFA program. But I’ll also have a new novella in my MERIDIAN SIX series and a collection of short stories out this summer.
Most importantly – are you more of a beach bum or a shore excursion / adventurer?
I’m definitely an adventurer. Because I spend so much time sitting to write, when I’m on vacation I want to get out and try lots of new things.

More about Jaye Wells…
Jaye Wells is a USA Today-bestselling author of urban fantasy and speculative crime fiction. Raised by booksellers, she loved reading books from a very young age. That gateway drug eventually led to a full-blown writing addiction. When she’s not chasing the word dragon, she loves to travel, drink good bourbon and do things that scare her so she can put them in her books. Jaye lives in Texas.
